The laser worked well within 400 yards on certain targets and the Zip and Rain features actually work very well. The Scan feature picks up the targets well within 300 yards, however I just cant seem to get the laser to acclimate on targets well between 300-400 yards, and it won't reach at all past 400 yards. The laser can be picky on certain targets like buildings and trees. Overall it is a good product for the money, but not a steal. You can find other rangefinders at better prices.Lightweight and easy to use, I find only one minor design flaw. It is designed for right-handed use and is slightly cumbersome for those who choose to use it as left-handed hunters (I am). This range finder works well inside of 150 yards and you just have to be creative in trying to locate things that will reflect back to give you some reasonable readings. It is small, compact and just a basic, no frill range finder. It is hard to hold still, but with a little practice and patience, you can get a reading.Can’t shoot flags over 150. It mostly gets the background not the flag. Pretty disappointed. Also the surface scratches and picks up dirt easily. Wouldn’t recommend for golfFor example, I targeted my white golf ball that landed about a 100 yards from me in a sunny day (highly reflective) and failed to give a reading. From my apartment terrace, I aimed the unit at a white building at least 200 yards away and gave me a reading of 82 yards. Returned the unit for a full refund. My advise: don't buy any of these units regardless of brand and price unless you can return the item to the vendor and get your money back in full if you are not satisfied. Normally it is tough to get a distance of over 800 yards. I am getting readings off of large, low rise building too, so smaller things, of course, would be more difficult. I was hitting parked cars, tree trucks and street signs at over 700 yards, but I'm sure that golf poles at 200 yards would be much more difficult. I'm sure that it would be easier to get the reading from the ground under the pole than the pole itself. Same the the ground under a deer or a tree next to the deer. To get any reading over 400 yards you have to hold the range finder VERY still. If bushnell is open to suggestions, I would recommend a tripod mount so the range finder could be kept still for measuring long distances. Also the digital display needs illumination of some sort for low light situations. At night, the display is unreadable unless you shine a flashlight into the lens. For me, this model is the best value for the money. I don't know how much better a more expensive model would be. My guess is the price increases steeply for small gains in performance. I would definitely buy this again.I wanted to knew that the shooting berm was 40 meters long but I wanted to know where 25 meters was for AR15 zeroing and also were some other closer distances were for handgun shooting. This would also help on return trips so I could practice shooting from the same distance and work on other problems in my shooting knowing that they were all at the same distance.
