Since purchase I've played 22 rounds of golf on the original battery. I'll usually measure every shot except the tee shot, probably 25 times a round. Oh, and I usually end up shooting the yardage for my playing partner(s) as well, so realistically 50 measurements per round. Of course each measurement is actually a couple of shots - how far to the flag, how far to that bunker, where's that tree, etc.That means I've now measured in the neighborhood of 2,000 times on the original set of batteries and have yet to see the low battery indicator. Beyond the battery life, this is an incredibly handy tool. Now I know the exact distance to the flag and can even measure just how far I have to hit it to get over that bunker. I'm hitting more greens and leaving the ball on the right part of the green more often. If I had to do it again, I probably wouldn't get the Slope Edition.I've never used a golf laser finder. The ease and speed of use is amazing. It finds all targets easily and displays results instantly. The 5x brings distant targets into easy site range. I thought holding steadily for longer distances might be an issue, but it's really easy to get results. Note: It appears the pin seeker and jolt may activate only when a complex situation occurs. Reading the instructions may help. It seems if a pin is clearly identifiable, the distance is simply displayed. It is fool proof. Remarkable. It just works, instantly. Note, I am and will continue to be a skycaddie SGX user on the course, simply because of the complete information it provides like hole overview with bunkers, fairway ends, and ranges to 150 yards out - a more complete view of the hole. A laser will not replace my SkyCaddie. I brought this V3 slope addition primarily for use on practice ranges that have mixed elevations (higher tee boxes, lower range targets, higher range targets, etc). Most times I just look at my SkyCaddieto see the pin distances based on where the teeing area is moved for the day and from where I set up to hit. The SkyCaddiefor most courses I have played include the driving ranges and target distances. Good to know in practice. I realize that a lower green, let's say at only 120 yards, will not be impacted as much by elevation because of ball trajectory vs.I use a SkyCaddie SGX for regular play. Thus, this slope edition is not tournament legal. Still, for fun travel to courses that have raised tees or those very low greens - vacation places - for fun play, this is a fun device... and for my primary goal of knowing true distances on hilly ranges, this is nice. Re-cap. Excellent device. Couldn't be easier to use or quicker to display. Jolt indication worth buying the V3 product over the V2. Will still use my SkyCaddie SGX for regular play because of the wealth of other information provided that I wouldn't want to be without. Will use this laser mostly at hilly practice ranges or if range is not in SkyCaddie(very rare these days). Before buying a laser, strongly consider the GPS golf devices, like SkyCaddie.Concerned about Nikon oil leaking issue that mentioned in many reviews, I picked the Bushnell. This unit is accurate, simple to use, and serve the purpose. It acquires the target quite easily. The reading looks a little primitive. Changing the model requires you to hold the fire button for few seconds, and it only work right after you turn on the unit. Again, the operation can be a little more friendly and sophisticated. The build quality is OK but doesn't have the high class look and feel. The provided soft case is functional, but will be nice if it is a hard case. This unit can be used as regular range finder as well. I tried target 800m away, and it read easily.
