Once you connect your BACKTRACK DTOUR to your Mac using a USB cable, the device is displayed on your Mac desktop: Using military GPS satellites, the D-TOUR re-calculates your position every two seconds, telling you how far you’ve traveled from your original destination. Activate the trip logging function and it will record your trip route. After your trip is over, you can use the free D-TOUR software application to view, analyze and share the data collected during your trips. IN EUROPE: Please visit www.bushnell-europe.eu Large buildings and metallic surfaces could potentially affect satellite lock and more difficult to accurately determine location. To remove the battery door, turn the coin screw from lock to unlock and pull on the lower back half. The estimated battery life for a constant running unit is 16-20 hours. You will only have a short amount of time after the blinking starts before the batteries are exhausted. You will also not see the walking man in the upper right of the screen if you attempt to turn logging on. Create your online based account and upload your trips. Once uploaded, the software will erase the unit's memory. The blinking icon lets you know that it has not yet obtained a full lock. Satellite acquisition takes approximately 15-60 seconds in an area with a clear view of the sky. You will not be able to get adequate GPS lock in a building or under a heavy cover. Make sure you are in an open area, away from tall buildings, trees, and large metal structures. If you still don’t have a satellite lock after several minutes, try turning the unit off then on again. This can result in the position data calculated by any commercial GPS to appear to wander. Over time this variability averages out to where you actually are. With the D-TOUR powered on outdoors, wait for a GPS lock (satellite icon stops blinking), then hold the D-TOUR out in front of you and move it in a “figure 8” pattern a few times.Your trips should appear in order by date. http://www.atsamuihaus.com/image/upload/craig-hospital-inventory-of-environmental-factors-manual.xml

Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2015 I didn't need a big time GPS unit but I wanted something to record hikes other than the GPS in my phone. This it the gadget you need for that. Low power usage, and it's simple to carry 3 extra AAA batteries anyway. It will guide you back (directionally not step by step) to a set waypoint. It will guide you BACK. Back to camp, back to the trail head, or back to your car, whatever you set. It can track your course in a vehicle at highway speed. Gets a satellite fix pretty quickly (1-2 minutes for me). It says it will store about 22 hours, but keep in mind that's 22 hours of movement you wouldn't need it on while in camp etc. Also if you do need to change batteries, it will not lose your data (that's a big deal by the way). You can upload your information, which it will overlay with google earth and show speed, distance, elevation etc. Probably more info than you need. It can also display your GPS position which would help you locate yourself on a map (ALWAYS have a map and compass). The digital compass function seems to work well (ALWAYS take a regular magnetic compass). If that's what you want get this item. https://www.ziveknihy.sk/audiokniha/electrical-engineering-principles-and-applications-solutions-manual-6th-edition
If you want to geocache, or set destinations to be guided to, or show your position on a map overlay and so on then you'll need to shell out the bucks for a big time GPS unit. At first I liked it -- basic, easy to use, and gave info that I wanted, such as distance traveled, backtrack direction and distance to 5 different locations, a compass, and altimeter. Easy to use and easy to read, rugged, nice compact size. Once you download the file, you can (or could, but no longer) view your route on satellite view, map view (just a line on vaguely shaded map), or terrain view (topographic). Then you could export or print the view. I liked having maps of my hikes. Deal killers: You can't pause the tracking and it doesn't have an energy saving mode, so I'm lucky if it logs for 8 hours. That means a lot of my hikes have not been completely logged before the batteries die; I use rechargeable batteries, always fully charged, but maybe that has something to do with it. After a year, it doesn't log the distance accurately (I compare against other mapping apps and routes with known distances). Recently the software was updated and it no longer provides the topographic map view. That means that all you get to see is a line on a shaded relief. When I contacted customer support they said they farm out the Backtrack software to some other company. Follow a link to that site and there's no information, support, or customer support or anything. In fact, you can't even tell what the company does. Overall, accuracy of functions has diminished over time, poor software and no support from Bushnell. Given that there are a lot of mapping and compass apps for smart phones, there's no point in even bothering with this unit, disappointing since I liked it a lot at first. Please try again later. Construction: D-Tour seems solidly built, with an easy-to-use battery compartment with a solid latching mechanism, which is rare in small gadgets. To add to the durability, buy the well-designed cover which comes with the D-Tour Armband or D-Tour Bike Mount; I don't use the armband but the case that comes with it is excellent. The first thing to break was the dust cover for the micro USB connection. It disappeared on my 2nd use of the unit. D-Tour is not water-proof, but will survive light rain; it's Presbyterian rather than Baptist because it can take baptism by sprinkling but not immersion. But with a missing USB dust cover, D-Tour ceases to be safe in rain. The Bushnell website does not offer this as a replacement part. If you calibrate the unit for every use, the compass is accurate. Calibration is easy, takes a few seconds of movement of the unit, and videos are available online. Temperature readings are reliable. D-Tour tracks my hikes and marks way points okay. While D-Tour doesn't have built-in maps the software will plot trips stored in the unit on a map when you connect to a computer.
The software copies your trip data to a website, from which you can retrieve it at will; you can copy and share your maps. But there are glitches. The website recognized my User Name and Password, but the software would not. I contacted support, and while I did not get a personal reply, after 2 days when I tried to open the software again, I got a notice of an update, and when this was installed the software recognized me. Either a coincidence, or a helpful but shy support person. If you save trips that are similar in starting point, they may be superimposed on each other when you view them. Instead of seeing a particular trip, you see a conglomeration of two or three, Perhaps an odd feature. Click on the eye icon next to the name of the trip to remove it from the map so you see only the trip you want. Does the unit accurately record where you've been? Usually. So far, 3 our of 4 trips were correctly represented on the map. But one had multiple errors, adding nearby places I had not visited and routes I had not taken. Some reviewers claim D-Tour uses Google Maps, but my maps are from MapQuest and they are badly out of date. My street has been in existence for over 12 years, and it doesn't appear on the MapQuest charts. I conclude MapQuest is inadequate. You don't have a choice of map to represent your stored data, so I'm stuck with inaccurate charts; that is, the data is usually correct, but the map on which it is displayed is out of date. A warning about connecting to your computer. Page 8 of the instruction manual (which you need to download from Bushnell's website) correctly states you are to turn the unit on and then connect it to your computer. What it doesn't explain is that if you connect first, and then turn on D-Tour the unit will freeze up; it no longer responds and you can't even turn it off in the normal way. To unfreeze the unit, open the battery compartment and remove and then reinstall a battery. Please try again later. Please try again later. BAIDUVPN.COM/upload/files/Droboshare-User-Manual.pdf
B4Ubuy 4.0 out of 5 stars That being said, the only thing on the negative side with that scenario is that when you initially lock on to the satellites, (and activate to start recording the route,) if you just let it sit around without moving, the display says you've traveled some short distance. So, then when you plot your route, you'll see that the units starting point wandered a bit from the EXACT point you really started. But I think all cheaper GPS's can wander bit if all satellites aren't locked onto or just sit around in tracking mode. You can correct for this problem when you start, by just checking its recorded mileage when you start to travel.i.e. you just have to be SURE it's mileage is at ZERO when you start moving. (It can easily be reset to zero). It's not complicated, doesn't have as many features as the wicked expensive units - but it delivers what I want. I'd recommend this to a fellow rider ( or hiker ).Please try again later. Please try again later. D. Walters 2.0 out of 5 stars As a navigational aid the system is slow but reliable. In the clear it can take 2 to 3 min to get a GPS lock, under a canopy it can take 2 to 3 times that long. For me this isn't a big deal, but for an inpatient hunter or outdoors-person chomping on the bit to get out into the woods this can be an eternity. I've learned to remember to record the campsite location the night before so this isn't a deal breaker. I do appreciate that once the unit has a GPS lock it seems to keep that GPS lock, it does act as a reliable compass, and I appreciate having a reference heading and estimated distance to my destination when I'm out in the field. Yes, the software does let you overlay your track over a Google Map, it does show you an analysis of your performance, and you can share those tracks over social media and email but you can only do this through the Bushnell interface. There is no way of exporting your track to any other application. {-Variable.fc_1_url-
So, you CAN'T export your tracks to Google Earth, Endomondo, or any other service. It leaves me feeling a bit burnt as the sharing and saving verbiage in the marketing materials is a bit misleading. Also, there is no way of editing a track, so if and when it does misread your location it renders the aforementioned charts and graphs useless and with no means of remedy. Till then the D-Tour is, in my estimation, an overpriced device to avoid. Please try again later. Please try again later. Amazoncustomer 4.0 out of 5 stars Used for months. All it has is an arrow showing your direction. But that is good enough for me. It is very easy to use and once you mark a location you can turn it off and find it later when you turn it on. Or you can record your track the whole time and see it on your computer later (and share it if you like). It will mark five locations and will get you back to them with an accuracy of about 1-10 yards (in my usage). So if you cannot find your car or campsite within 10 yards.you probably should not be in the woods in the first place. Bottom line: This may help you from going the wrong way, or getting lost in the woods. A little piece of mind is worth it. No more guessing. And for the price you cannot go wrong. Questions about this product? Ask me!Please try again later. Please try again later. It shows where you have been on. I even used it to test the speed on my golf cart. The software is pretty cool. It shows where you have been on a satellite map with date, temp, alt, speed, avg speed, distance etc. The advertised battery life at 18 hours is a stretch.Probably 12-14 tops. I would have paid more if Bushnell had rechargeable lithium's like a cell phone. With the alkaline s you are never quite sure when they will die so bring a spare set with you. A few cons here. Once in awhile the unit shuts off on its own. Not often but it does.
Sometimes it takes awhile for the satellites to lock though most of the time it is within a minute though sometimes 10 minutes. The control buttons are a bit spongy. Sometimes you have to click a few times to get to work. This unit is not perfect but perfect would cost a couple of hundred bucks. It fits my needs. Please try again later. Please try again later. It points you to where want to go (Via recorded way points) You store a location, walk away, far away, in any direction, any terrain, anywhere and it will point you back to where you came from. The only downfall is that it does not account for terrain, it shows an arrow pointing to your destinatin, wether it is over a cliff or through a lake, it points to your destination. Very good device to have for anyone who likes to hike in the mountains without fear of getting lost. Well worth the money, especially compare to some of the higher end devices. I am very pleased with my purchase. Update. I still love this little gizmo but, while hiking and scrambling at Devils Head CO, at some point, i took a hit to the face of the D-Tour. It was not enough for me to even notice but when it was time to hike back to camp, I pulled out the D-Tour and the display was wrecked. I could not read the data. The screen as done! It took several hours to finally find the camp. Since then I have purchase a Garmin Etex10. But I did buy another D-Tour just because its easy and reliable (and now, a good back up!) If you carry this in your pocket, make sure the face is pointing toward you and not away from you.I obviously liked it well enough to buy another one. A good product! If this one breaks I,ll probably buy yet another one. I like it that much! Please try again later. Please try again later. Amazon Customer 4.0 out of 5 stars It takes some getting used to. It has some peccadillos which you have to figure out. One, for example, is setting the time. It would never keep when I set it. Another is the miles window. BANGKOKCABLE.COM/ckf_bccUpload/files/Drobo-Pc-Backup-Manual.pdf
Rather than miles or kilometers it is yards and meters. Another is when I am out on the kayak, for example, it will never go about 4.3 miles per hour on the screen, even when I am paddling at 4.5-5 mph, something not difficult to do in a 17' yak. These are not huge worries, but they can be annoying. On the positive side, it was great fun to see the route you took on a map, hybrid, or a satellite photograph. It is also relatively easy to follow the pointer back to a starting point you have marked. This was nice. You can export them to save. Another virtue is its size. It is not bulky to carry, especially where space is tight on a bicycle or a kayak. I have put all of this in the past tense. Bushnell updated the map software for the backtrack that you use to see the routes and everything. Now the route does not show up anymore. The data does, thankfully, but the route is no longer visible. I do not know why. Now the backtrack is just another, though simpler, GPS. Oh, well. It was good while it lasted. Please try again later. Please try again later. Blessed 1.0 out of 5 stars It says it has the ability to mark 5 points but you can only use these 5 point to go find your car or other things- you can't load the points on your computer to find your exact spots- the only way to do that is to get a pencil and paper and write down the points while you are on the road. In addition, it allows you to mark just 1 trip. But only gives you the distance you walked- won't do any other simple dimensions eg.On getting it, I found out it doesn't and the customer service rep said- it's not meant to do that. I wish they all had their facts straight. Unfortunately for me, I purchase 2 of this device:-(Please try again later. Please try again later. Learn more about our ReturnIf you cannot upgrade your browser or use an alternative device to visit us,No maps make it easy. Also makes it a basic device, so if you want maps this doesn't have it. Lets you record waypoints as well as the route you took. Good to use for recording where my teenage son went too! Pros: Easy to use. Cons: no map They recently switched to Mapquest and the maps are not nearly as good, more like worthless as Mapquest does not show TOPO lines so you may walk up to a cliff. Also the share to Facebook no longer works with Mapquest. Backtra. Took me 6 times of effort to really understand the auto and manual tracking functions. It is neet to look at your track, however having only 5 manual inputs for standard hiking seems way to low. The auto tracker is nice to see how far you walked but, well I can't figure out a way to really use it since I am not a mountain climber. I purchased it strickly for the gps function and the lat long output for a single location, which works extremely well. Sometimes it jumps back to old distance instead of resetting if the button is held just a tenth of a second too long. On the other hand if you don't hold it long enough it will not reset. I've used Bushnell products for 20 years. They have always underachieved, and looks like they still do. For the price this was a great buy and easy to use and set-up. A hiker's must item! Would you like to review this product. Belted, or bungeed to trees and they have plenty of clearance for large-headed bolts.
