Now for the disclaimer. If you are shredding every day, shredding a few pieces of mail at a time, then this should be just right for you. If you have large stacks of 'incriminating evidence' to shred, then you may want to spend some of your ill-gotten gains on a more high-end shredder, as you will probably get frustrated by the feature that powers the shredder off to protect it when it overheats. It seems to allow only about 5-ish minutes of use, then stops - and takes longer to cool down than it was running. After it cools down it works again,but it definitely keeps you from getting through a back log quickly. I did not go above the 12 sheets that it listed as the maximum, and usually did only about half that as a maximum. I've had to un-jam it about 4-5 times since I've owned it, but yesterday it finally got beyond repair (at least by me) and will need to be replaced. The motor still runs, but it no longer spins. When I looked at it more closely, there are little plastic pieces that appear to be broken off next to the gears. Although it advertises that you can shred staples and paperclips, the little four-page manual recommends that you remove them before shredding. I so recommend. You get up to three minutes of continuous run time before you're supposed to let it rest for an hour before continuing. But don't worry; you'll have plenty to do during that hour--removing clogged shredded paper from the cutters (see photos--first one before cleaning shredders by hand, second one after, but before using a tiny jeweler's screwdriver and needle-nosed pliers to remove the rest). I remove as much as I can, then run the shredder in reverse before adding one more sheet to get the remaining pieces out of the shredder. Use the paper shredder slot. I had a bit of a pile of papers that needed shredding stored over a week or so before I got round to buying this machine. What influenced my purchase was the reviews, and they are correct. However, the manufacturer claims that the machine will cope with up to 12 sheets at a time, and this I very much doubt. I did put 4 sheets at a time through and the motor worked hard, indeed struggled, to cope, and I have no doubt that in no way would it cope with 12 sheets. It's perfectly fine for the everyday demands of a home office or small business. If you have a lot of shredding to do, you might be better off getting something a bit more durable - this will do one binful of continuous-feed shredding before the overheat protection kicks in and it needs a rest for an hour. I was a bit behind on my shredding so I found this out the hard way. Still, at least it HAS overheat protection - inferior models would just keep on going until they burned out, so this is a positive as far as I'm concerned. The CD and credit card shredder is a slight disappointment. It only seems to have two blades and no crosscut, so a credit card is only chopped into three pieces. It jammed when shredding anything more than 5 sheets of normal A4 paper and did not like 2 payslips. Goodness knows how’s its supposed to shred cds. Please try again It handles thinner corrugated cardboard, like the regular boxes Amazon uses, without any problems. For thicker double thickness corrugated cardboard it was more of a struggle but that was because the thickness was slightly larger than the shredder opening so I was forcing it in. It still shredded the thicker stuff but did over heat a couple of times, but this isn't a complaint about the product as I'm using it for larger material than it should be. But the over heat protection is a good feature to prevent burning out the motor. This is a really good home office shredder that can handle cardboard.
